Flexibility and social interaction are key to innovative concept with less than 50% of classic office space
AMERSFOORT/ GHENT, 14 September 2021 – Deliverect, the Belgian scale-up that connects online food delivery companies like Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Just Eat and Takeaway.com directly to restaurants’ POS systems, moved into a new office in Ghent yesterday. The office was festively opened by Mayor Mathias De Clerq. The innovative building is not only a meeting place and hybrid workspace for employees – Deliverect also wants to use it to bring the Tech- and start-up communities together for inspiring events. The new office has been set up in collaboration with Looop.
Founded in September 2018 and rapidly growing, Deliverect enables restaurants and other food outlets to easily manage and grow their online orders, increasing sales by an average of 25%. Deliverect’s technology is now used at 13,000+ locations in 30 countries and the workforce has grown to 250 employees in three years.
As a result of the pandemic, the delivery industry went into hypergrowth. Even as restaurants re-open, high demand for online meal delivery services continues and is expected to generate sales of €162.23 billion by 2025 (ResearchAndMarkets.com). Food delivery saw a 79% increase in online orders in the first quarter of 2021, nearly doubling its forecasted growth globally.
Deliverect now has 150 vacancies worldwide.
Zhong Xu, CEO: “With this new Belgian headquarters, we are ready for further growth. We remain loyal to Ghent; it has everything we need to excel. The new building is a perfect reflection of what we stand for at Deliverect: freedom of work, flexibility, a healthy dose of ambition and an international diverse and multicultural working environment in which social interaction is the driving force for innovation.”
Jan Hollez, CTO: “With this new office, we want to stimulate teamwork for maximum creativity. After the pandemic, we are moving to a hybrid, where teams are empowered to decide their balance between office and remote work. We have consciously chosen a concept in which the office is an inspiring place to meet. With plenty of room for creativity: an auditorium, large and flexible meeting rooms, a barista bar next to the reception and a beautiful rooftop bar. Less than half of the total area is furnished as classic office space. We believe the spacious building is very inspiring, with lots of daylight. And we are future proof with a large bicycle parking space, including charging stations for eBikes.”
Mathias De Clercq: “Conquering the world from Ghent, that’s what we like to hear. As a city, we are very honored that Deliverect wants to continue to realize its global ambitions from Ghent. This proves once again that Ghent is a great home base for starting and growing tech companies.”
