Venture Capital Internship Program

Join us as an intern analyst!

We are Newion, an Amsterdam-based pan-European early-stage venture capital firm that invests exclusively in business software. With our involved and hands-on approach, capital, knowledge, and network, we help ambitious northwest European companies emerge as market leaders. 

The internship position at Newion is intended to get young, ambitious career starters exposed to working in a VC firm and acquire hands-on experience with deal sourcing, deal research, and deal-making. In a nutshell, you will be part of our team to help us find outstanding founders and will gain exposure to a large variety of early-stage technology companies.

In the first two months, we lead you through a structured onboarding process to get you up and running, on the basics of venture capital and scale-ups. Then there are 2 months dedicated to getting actual experience and applying the learnings of the first two months. In the final two months, we make sure that you can do specific tasks & finish your internship report to make sure the full internship is a well-rounded experience.

The goal of the internship is to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to be fully equipped to apply for an analyst position or to have a good understanding of what career should be pursued.

Investment Analyst (intern)

Activities

The investment analyst (intern) will be working alongside our team on:

• Assist in deal sourcing and qualification of opportunities
• Conduct market research and formulate related investment theses
• Develop investment assessment materials

Requirements

We look for candidates that have the following requirements:

• Enrolled  in or just finished a (Master) level university program in business, finance, or engineering
• Structured thinking, proof of well-developed analytical skills
• Highly motivated, self-driven, and strong drive as well as a passion for technology 
• Strong communication skills
• High degree of integrity
• Fluency in English
• Good numeracy skills and working familiarity with Excel
• Able to commute to our Amsterdam office.

Interested?

The selection process runs in 3 steps:

1. 30-minute online interview with a pre-selected group of candidates.
2. in-depth (online) interview with 2 more team members.
3. Final conversation over lunch with the winning candidate and the Newion team to get a first-team impression and ensure cultural fit. 

The internship is for minimally 4 months and maximally 6 months, and usually starts in Q1 and Q3.
